Sun Position and Shadow Length charts

The site allows you to calculate the position of the sun anywhere in the world, and plot the shadow cast by the sun at different times of the day at different times of the year.

The Position and Shadow Length chart shows just that, the angular position of the sun (the azimuth) and the height, as represented by the shadow that an object of a specific height would cast.

Details The diagram includes the following symbols: The position of the sun at sunrise, with the time in your selected timezone The position of the sun at sunset, with the time in your selected timezone The position of the sun at each hour of the day it is up, with the time in your selected timezone. Also, smaller grey circles to show the half hours. The length and direction of a shadow that a small object would cast at each hour of the day The direction of true north (note this is different to magnetic north, which varies slightly over time)
